ULTRAVOX
is an english new wave band created in 1976 in London by JOHN FOXX
(voice/guitar, born DENNIS LEIGH on the 26/02/1947 in Chorley), STEVE
SHEARS (guitars), BILLY CURRIE (synths/violin, born on the 01/04/1950
in Huddersfield), WARREN CANN (drums, born on the 20/05/1951 in
Victoria in British Columbia in Canada) and CHRIS CROSS (bass, born on
the 14/07/1954 in Tottenham). In
1973, a first the band with DENNIS LEIGH spelled TIGER LILY. They
change their name successively in THE ZIPS, THE INNOCENT, LONDON
SOUNDTRACK, FIRE ON LONDON before take ULTRAVOX, in refer to krautrock
band, NEU!. In
1979, JOHN FOXX gives up and it's MIDGE URE (voice, born JAMES URE on
the 10/10/1953 in Cambuslang, ex-SALVATION, ex-RICH KIDS, ex-THIN LIZZY
and VISAGE) replaces him. In
1992, the new line-up of ULTRAVOX includes BILLY CURRIE, TONY FENELLE
(voice/guitar), GERRY LAFFY (guitar), JACKIE WILLIAMS (voice) et NEAL
WILKINSON (drums). New split of ULTRAVOX in 1996 and a new line-up in
2008.
